The USA Today is reporting that the ATF is overloaded with NFA registrations. From the article. Between 2005 and 2013, firearms act-related applications “skyrocketed by more than 380%” to nearly 200,000, according to the April 16 memo issued by ATF Deputy Assistant Director Marvin Richardson. The surge has contributed to a backlog of more than 70,000 applications.
Richardson’s memo states that the ATF is “immediately” hiring 15 people to assist with the application processing and deploying 15 current employees to the task.
While it is good that demand for these items is healthy, it is unacceptable that it takes nearly a year for the applications to be processed.

According to the AP one of the big pushes at the NRA convention this year is National Reciprocity. The NRA show is why 2 of the 4 that you usually hear on the show aren’t here tonight. Rob and John are both attending and we hope to get reports from them on Wednesday’s show.

Georgia has a new law that greatly expands where people with a concealed weapons permit can carry. This has been decried in the media. “why would you want to carry a gun in church?” Because I don’t think you should be able to kill people in church.

Our good friend Miguel over at the Gun Free Zone blog has a great take on the Bloomberg $50 million astroturf organization. Responding to a report that the former mayor is paying to have protesters show up at the NRA show this weekend, Miguel says “That’s all you need to know. They are not and never were grassroots. They are making a big show of having to pay for their activists to travel to the NRA Annual Meeting to “face off” tens of thousands of people who paid for their own travel & expenses.  And that it is happening on Shannon Watt’s backyard is even more humiliating.

It is hard to win a war when using mercenaries.”

Our final story tonight is that the mainstream media did a bit of a hatchet job on Cliven Bundy, the ranch owner in Nevada who the BLM tried to steal cattle from recently (didn’t they used to hang cattle rustlers?) Bundy made a speech to local supporters supporting minorities, and made the point that we must be vigilant so that civil rights aren’t turned back to jim crow days, but of course the MSM cut the thing up into tiny little pieces, and made Bundy look like a racist.

Gun Quotes
By calling attention to a well-regulated militia for the security of the Nation, and the right of each citizen to keep and bear arms, our Founding Fathers recognized the essentially civilian nature of our economy. Although it is extremely unlikely that the fears of governmental tyranny, which gave rise to the second amendment, will ever be a major danger to our Nation, the amendment still remains an important declaration of our basic military-civilian relationships, in which every citizen must be ready to participate in the defense of the country. For that reason I believe the second amendment will always be important. –JOHN F. KENNEDY

KIOWA COUNTY, Oklahoma –

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations is looking into an attempted home invasion and shooting that occurred Tuesday evening in Kiowa County.

According to the Kiowa County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to a home in the 200 block of S. Parker in Mountain Park. Investigators say just before midnight, the homeowner was awakened by a knock at his door.

Investigators say the victim opened his door, when a man hit him with a large metal pipe. The homeowner shot the man several times with a small caliber handgun. The shooting victim then went to his own house located several blocks away and called the sheriff’s office about being shot. He was flown to an Oklahoma City hospital with possible life-threatening injuries.

The Kiowa County Sheriff’s Office requested OSBI investigative and crime scene agents work the case. At this point, no arrest has been made. Since no one has been arrested or charged with a crime, no names are being released at this time.

Dgu from michigan, also in the last episode you guys were talking about what a “great” place Flint is. Hahaha. I use to be a armored truck guard/ driver and my route was The Flint route in the time I was on that route there were countless banks robbed that we serviced an auto part supplier that we also serviced was robbed about every other week on 2 occasions of that store being robbed there were shots fired into the ceiling. Needless to say there was not one day that I didn’t wear my level 3a vest. I thankfully never had to use my firearm but there were times where the hairs on the back of my neck were standing up and the situation seemed like it was going to turn bad thankfully it never did. Anyway flint is a hole stay away from there I am glad to see the people of flint standing up to the garbage there.

Here’s an interesting case for you guys.
(What follows is the text from the story)

STANTON, Mich., (April 23, 2014)–  A couple from Montcalm County is fighting to get their concealed pistol licenses back after the gun board revoked them, saying they renounced their U.S. Citizenship.

But Randy and Shelly Esch say that’s not the case and they want answers. Randy Esch says he got a letter a few months back from the gun board saying that during his review his CPL was revoked; so was his wife’s.

Shelly says they are still living in the state, working in the state and paying their taxes.

They say they filed an Apostille, an act of state and reaffirmation of standing of what they say are their beliefs, but claim it was never their intent to not be U.S. citizens anymore.

“That’s not what we’re trying to say.  We’re trying to say exactly what I told you, our belief in God. I accepted the Constitution as it was written and the Bill of Rights and that’s what this says,” said Randy.

What Esch says he meant by it and how the gun board interpreted it are two different things. We took the document to Heather Garretson, a professor at Cooley Law School.

“The document is unclear as to whether he attempted to fully and legally renounce. It is clear from the document, ‘void’ and ‘renounced’ and ‘fraudulent’ are mixed in with the state and Montcalm County and the United States,” she said. “I think that to legally renounce your U.S. citizenship it’s going to take more than this document,” Garretson said.

Esch says they never went through the multiple steps required to legally renounce.

Montcalm County Prosecutor Andrea Krause is one of three on the Gun Board and says the evidence they received signed and filed by the Eschs was enough for the board during review, that under the CPL statue they’re not eligible.

The Eschs can appeal but say they don’t want to spend more money on doing that when they feel the board is in the wrong.
