Show intro music.
Personal news from each participant
Joe- Expecting a new child.
Gary- Car show season.
Rob- I took a newbie shooting. He was one of those “low profile” guys who didn’t want to shoot because buying guns and ammunition would put him on someone’s list. He changed his mind after he inherited two nice revolvers from his uncle. My friend and I took the newbie to the range and let him use our ammunition. He has a six inch Colt Python in 357 and a similar Colt in 22. Every gun has something to teach you.
I bought a SIRT pistol and am learning how to train with it. It isn’t a firearm. SIRT stands for Shot Indicating and Resetting Trigger. The pistol is the love-child between a Glock and a laser pointer. Dry practice has finally gone high tech.
I went to an open house for Empowered Firearms, a new gun store and indoor training facility that is only a few miles from my house. Chad and LeAnne are nice folks. What is a little unusual about Empowered Firearms is that you can rent their training facility and have a group lesson. We’re thinking of having an event there some Friday night. They have plenty of parking and there are some nice restaurants within walking distance for an after party. That is firearms, fuel and food done right.
Gary, they did have barbeque at their open house, but they brought it in. It wasn’t home cooked like ABN.
Matt- Extra shooting because my semi truck broke down. Retro rifle in 30-06 and winchester 1897 12ga shotgun.
Paul- Earning a living and getting my license from the South Dakota DOT. I let my hazmat certification lapse. I had to renew it.
Seg 2- News
Paul 1- Along with more government regulation comes more politicization and less tolerance. Now Microsoft has applied its corporate code of conduct to ban firearms and ammunition sales to organization using its products. Windows OneDrive, formally known as Microsoft SkyDrive, is built into Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8 for Phones and Windows 8 for Tablets. If you work in the gun industry you should avoid these products. You could wake up one morning to find your account terminated and all your emails, contacts, calendar etc. deleted.
Windows Live powers a number of Microsoft services including Microsoft’s cloud email and cloud Office suite. Windows Live, Outlook.com and Exchange Online power many large institutions including colleges and high schools. Don’t use any Microsoft-hosted email systems to buy or sell guns. If you use Microsoft Office in your gun business, make sure you do not use the Office 365 service to share business-related files.
Rob- My local gun stores have gone to apple apps, and may be forced to use Linux.
Rob 2- The US supreme court ruled that the BATFE can issue a ruling and impose restrictions that are not in the written law. The court upheld the conviction of former police officer Bruce Abramski for acting as a straw buyer of a firearm. Abramski bought a firearm and was a legal buyer. Abramski then transferred the gun to a legal owner using a FFL for the transfer and background check. Supreme court justice Elena Kagan ruled that the original buyer was not the intended recipient, and was therefore a straw buyer. The ATF had previously ruled that you could buy a firearm for a raffle or as a prize where the final owner was unknown. Gentlemen, call your lawyers, because I can’t tell you how to follow the law.
***Joe 3- There is no shortage of crazy, and HERE is some more. A 16 year old and 17 year old planned to attack their Volunteer, Tennessee high school. They planned carefully and wanted to correct the mistakes they saw in the Columbine High School shootings. These boys weren’t bullied. These boys did not have a record of discipline problems. An adult found out about their plans and a mental health counselor said the plans were real rather than a fantasy. Police seize journals the boys kept along with explosives they had collected.
The 16 year old was fixated on mass murder. This Thursday both boys appeared in Hawkins County Juvenile Court charged with conspiracy to commit first degree murder, conspiracy to commit an act of terrorism, and possession of explosive components.
We were lucky, because most school officials are not trained and armed.
Matt 3B- They have crazy to spare in the California legislature. State Senate Bill 53 would allow the California Department of Justice to collect and retain the name and address of every purchases of ammunition in the state. According to the report, this bill would force any American wishing to purchase ammunition to allow the DOJ to archive his or her fingerprints and perform a background check in addition to collecting a fee. The financial obligation would be recurring, since the ammunition purchaser permit would have to be renewed every two years. The bill would also eliminate all online sales or shipments by freight.
Rob- The bill passed the senate and house committees, so California listeners please contact your legislators HERE. I’ll say please again if you like. There are crazy California bills that cover the ground from outlawing bullet buttons to BB-guns. I found a website at the FIrearms Policy Coalition that lists firearms legislation in each state so check this site often.
Rob- Can I rant about stupid gun bills for a minute? Our legislators pretend that they can keep every single firearms cartridge from getting to criminals.. while at the same time they tell me they can’t stop a quarter million illegals who come across our border, and they can’t find the 4 million illegals that are already here. You can’t find a person but you can keep track of every bullet? That is crazy talk.
Paul 4- It had to happen eventually. Fox news has FINALLY(!) caught up with the Polite Society Podcast. Professor John Lott listed the many lies that President Obama speaks when he promotes gun-control. According to Professor Lott-
President Obama claimed that 40 percent of gun sales take place without a background check. That is a lie.
President Obama claimed that the US is the only developed country where the mentally ill get their hands on firearms. That is a lie.
President Obama claimed there is no law or regulation requiring a background check for a semi-automatic weapon. That is a lie.
President Obama claimed that the NRA and gun manufacturers flood local politicians with money and stop gun control. That is a lie. In fact it inverts the truth. Gun control advocates outspend the NRA for TV ads by a ratio of 7 to 1.
Professor Lott collected the facts, and Fox news published them. Welcome Aboard, Fox news.
Comment- What took them so long?
Joe 5- President Obama keeps telling us that Australian gun registration has brought peace and prosperity to the land down under.
Comment- Has it cooled the planet too?**
The president forgot to tell us that the rate of aggravated assault and armed assault rose in Australia. This week, the Australian police reported that a full 10 percent of the firearms they sieze are homemade, mostly made and bought by biker gangs. Some are crude shotguns, but some a sophisticated submachine guns.
Comment- Yeah, I meant to tell you, but I mis-spoke.
Break- Crudader ad
Matt 6- Moms Demand Action had a rally in New York City. Yes, the anti-gun group funded by Michael Bloomberg was able to round up 35 protesters. They demanded more gun laws and fewer firearms for citizens as they marched across the Brooklyn Bridge. I don’t know if you noticed it in the cropped pictures, but in the wide angle shots, you see the marchers escorted by armed police and plain clothes armed security.
Paul- Comment- Now I get it. Guns are bad, but there are rules for you and me, and different rules for them.
Matt- Yep, that is what it looks like.
Gary 7- The opposite of hypocrisy is integrity. Kansas lawmakers and some staff could already carry their licensed concealed firearms into the state capital. As of July 1, so can any other licensed concealed carry holder. Susan Wagle is the Senate President. She said, “We can’t be hypocritical. We either believe that concealed carry increases safety and that anyone who has a license is a legitimate individual who seeks not to harm anyone else or you don’t believe it.”
Patricia Stoneking, president of the Kansas State Rifle Association, said “The taxpayers pay for this building. We’re talking a civil right — not a privilege.”
Rob- I wonder if I can find a job in Kansas?
Joe 8- There is also a hint of sanity in Ashland, Oregon. A city plan to restrict open carry of loaded guns was thrown out by the City Council. The council decided the law was unenforceable law because concealed carry holders are allowed to openly carry in public, and state firearms law pre-empts municipal law in Oregon.
Gary- Comment- Thank you Ashland. I doubt that much common sense would have slowed Chicago, New York City or Washington DC.
Matt9- The gun grabbers are at it again in Florida. The tactic is called sue and settle. Florida has a pre-emption law that should stop local towns and counties from enacting their own gun regulations. That scheme falls apart when the state attorney general allows the state to refuse to prosecute local elected officials. When this case against the local officials was appealed, the states attorney filed a motions stating “we will take no position”.
Citizens are suffering malicious prosecution from local law enforcement, and the state is ignoring it. It is time for Florida liberty lovers to call their AG, Pamela Bondi, and ask her to straighten out her staff.
10 Gary- Judges are reluctant to tell a prosecutor he has a bad case. Not in this example. A Maryland Judge tossed the absurd case where were special prosecutors Ronald Naditch and Assistant State’s Attorney Brian Marsh said there is no right self-defense in Maryland. You’re supposed to call 911 instead.
We talked about this last September when we reported that-
Matthew Pinkerton defended his wife and family when the attacker broke into Pinkerton’s home just before 2 a.m. Sunday after being told repeatedly to leave. The attacker acted aggressively and motioned toward his waistband as if he had a weapon. Pinkerton shot Green once in the chest from 10 to 15 feet away, but Green continued to advance toward him, his wife Jessica and two friends who were at the house. That’s when Pinkerton shot him again. The attacker died at the scene.
Gary- Usually a judge will let a jury decide, but in this case the judge so agreed with the defense that the judge dismissed the charges. I hope mister Pinkerton had self-defense insurance because this probably cost him many tens of thousands of dollars for his legal defense.
Paul- A sucking chest wound may not stop a crime, but it sure as hell helps with the recidivism rate.
Hang on everybody, we’ll be right back after this

Segment 4 DGUs
Paul 1- There is a medical term called herd immunity that describes the spread of contagious disease. By analogy, what would happen to criminals if most of the honest citizens were carrying firearms? Crime would become very dangerous for the criminals and probably wouldn’t spread very far. That seems to be what happened in Houston, Texas at The Grey Room club. Two men followed a patron into the parking lot where they forced the victim to the ground and took his money. A bystander saw what was going on and opened fire on the suspects, striking one of them in the neck. The pair of suspects then jumped into their vehicle and tried to get away. Police soon caught up with them. They took the wounded man into custody, but the second robber got away.
Joe 2- Anti-gun groups say this never happens, but it sure happened here. A gunman burst into a 15 year highschool reunion in East Peoria, Illinois. The gunman then shot his ex-wife and her new boyfriend. The assailant was then shot by an off duty FBI agent who happened to be in the same restaurant and witnessed the assault. Unfortunately, all three died. Thanks to the FBI agent, for making sure no one else was injured.
Gary 3- Two intruders broke through a front door and demanded money from the occupants of this Valdosta, Georgia home. One of the robbers was armed with a rifle, and the other was armed with a handgun. Two of the occupants of the home, a mother and son, were both shot as they attempted to flee. Another occupant, an older man, was in the back of the house, and he grabbed his own handgun when when he heard the noise. He shot both intruders several times. The intruders ran but were soon picked up by police.
The robbers claimed they were victims of a separate shooting, but were identified by the homeowners. That is why YOU want to be the first one to call police.
