Personal news from each participant (when you are done with your segment please ask the next person what has been up with them)

Rob- I went to a two day training course at Tactical Response in Camden, Tennessee. This is a beginning pistol course and the emphasis was on mindset. It is about as good as a two day course can be.

Paul – Do you feel that even when you take a new course even as a beginner course you still learn things?

John – Since the Second Amendment isn’t limited to firearms, I’ve been investigating buying a crossbow. Models and prices are all over the place. At the top end you can pay over $2,500!  I’ve also been at work on designing my Form 1 .22 LR suppressor. I picked up a shop press from Harbor Freight yesterday to use to form the freeze plugs as baffles.

Gary-

Tracy- The MAG-180 starts 13 days from today! This class hasn’t been taught in 11 years, and I’ll be traveling to Wisconsin to attend it. I have to shoot Mas’ quad-speed qualification, which I’ll shoot with my STI Trojan. Our own Rachel Malone will be at the 180 working as a range officer. Our own Dr. John Edeen will be taking the class as well. Stay tuned to future podcast episodes for my AAR of the 180. Everyone wish me luck!

Belle- Been teaching and competing pretty much every weekend since I was on last. Just took my last registration for our MAG40 at FAS today, its officially full. I am officially in the busiest time of the year and it’s a non stop ride thru September.

Rob- BROWARD COUNTY SHERIFF CAPTAIN REMOVED FROM OFFICE

In the four months since seventeen people were murdered at a high school in Parkland, Florida, a number of truly disturbing revelations have come to light.

Consider the perpetrator. It has since been shown that he was known as disturbed, and a disciplinary problem for the school and local enforcement officials. The local Sheriff’s department lied about the extent of the problem, citing 23 calls when records show at least 45. These calls started when the murderer was only 9 years old. He had been reported twice to the FBI. However, a progressive discipline policy had prevented legal action being taken, preserving the school’s stellar discipline record.

Then there was the School Resource officer, who chose to stay outside the school instead of entering to confront the murderer, and who subsequently resigned amidst an outcry for his prosecution.

Then there was the role of the person in charge of the Sheriff response on that day. It was Captain Jan Jordan who ordered her officers to form a perimeter around the school, rather than enter. The deputy chief of the local fire-rescue squad asked six times… SIX TIMES… for permission to enter the school and each time Captain Jordan said “no”. She even continued to decline permission after the murderer had been arrested. The fire-rescue commander cited Jordan as saying that she “..would have to check..” before allowing the squats inside. Captain Jordan had no training in incident command, or tactical command.

Now, after dithering a decision that cost the lives of students and staff, Captain Jordan has been removed. Mayor Payton said that this is one of many coming changes. Broward County Commissioner Michael Udine added, “When you have what you had on February 14th, there’s got to be accountability.”

Listeners, let’s hope that this extends to the school principal, the schools superintendent and the Broward County Sheriff, because we would hate anyone to think that this hapless Captain, who was out of her depth, is being scapegoated. WE’d also like to see your emails about whether the rescue squad commander should have asked for permission in the first place, considering his two suads each contained armed police officers

Belle-RECYCLING MONEY FROM GUN BUYBACKS TO SEND KIDS TO GUN SCHOOL

The Illinois gun rights group “Guns Save Lives” has once again exploited the actions of anti-gunners to promote safe and responsible gun handling.

Once again, this shrewd and focused group of dedicated 2nd Amendment activists has used money it has garnered from turning in junk guns to Chicago gun buybacks, to send young people to an NRA summer shooting camp. Previous events have been in 2007 and 2012.

Six years ago, Guns Save Lives gave their first black eye to Mayor Emmanuel by harvesting $6,000 from the buyback and using it to send kids to the NRA summer camp. As a consequence, the city ended its buyback program and the leader of Guns Save Lives was banned from ever taking part in once again.

But, just a few days ago, Guns Save Lives was back with a vengeance to take advantage of a $100 per gun, no questions asked event. Turning in guns that were old, broken, rusty and  looking like they “..dated from the Prohibition era..”. The group were not able to sellback all 60 guns they offered but did “..very well..”

Listeners – what do you think of this idea? Can you run it in your area?

John – COMING TO A SAFE SPACE NEAR YOU… THE PARKLAND KIDS’ SUMMER TOUR

Listeners.. do the parents of these whiny little babies know that they have escaped their cots and cribs? Is there some definition of child abuse that encompasses allowing your children to be exploited for political ends? We’d like to know what you think because we are bemused by the coming “Parkland Survivors’ Summer Tour”.

Yes, listeners you too can enjoy Mr Angry Foul-Mouth, aka David Hogg, as he “Bangs” his pouty little fist on the podium to “Demand Common Sense” gun control, and shakes his triangular little bobble-head against the “Child Murdering NRA members”.

You can watch in AMAZEMENT as Selfie-Hopping Emma Gonzalez tells people that politicians who don’t support this are “.. looking like they are going against kids.”

You’ll collapse in AWE as they ride a bus to 75 stops over 60 days, attempting to register young people to vote and indoctrinate them into hatred of the Constitution of these United States,  and to voluntarily giving up their Natural Rights, all the while quietly backed by the Democratic party and leftist activists.

You’ll remember with a tear in your eye, how script-reading Delany Tarr, haltingly quoted her handling Democrat move-makers with “When you give us that inch, that bump-stock ban, we will take a mile.”

And here’s some things you won’t hear these little pediatric puppets pronouncing purposefully on:

* the leftist discipline policies that made the murders possible

* the inept leadership that allowed their classmates to bleed to death while help was ready

* the history of racism and bigotry embraced and pushed by the Democratic party

* that their politicians are bought and paid for not by the NRA, but more likely by Big Pharma

Listeners, make no mistake. This is one of the most shrewd and well-developed pieces of gun bam ideology ever developed by the left. They ARE coming for our guns.

Paul – SO CALLED RED-FLAG LAWS SPREAD LIKE FLEAS

Listeners.. one of the most insidious new tactics of the antigunners is the so-called “Red Flag” or “Extreme Protection” laws being signed onto the books all over the country.

Most recently, New Jersey joined the tide. Massachusetts Senate passed a bill. New York Governor Cuomo called to widen the list of people who can rain down gun confiscation terror on otherwise law abiding citizens.

So, what are these bills and laws about?

At their core, they allow a range of people… teachers, neighbors, family members, marriage counselors, doctors, psychologists and so on…  to call the police if they believe that someone who owns firearms is a risk to themselves or others. The police are then obliged to visit and temporarily confiscate the firearms. The burden of proof (and expense) then falls on the gun owner to prove that they are not, in fact, a risk.

Many of the laws, such as that about to be signed in New Jersey explicitly involve “ex parte” decisions – that is, the target of the action (eg, you, Listener) is unaware that the accusation has been brought until the confiscation is enacted. Many (also including New Jersey) do not allow for action against those who would use this law mischevosly or maliciously, by launching a baseless attack on, say, a neighbor, for petty or vengeful reasons.

Many of these bills and laws even allow “current and former romantic partners” to launch the attacks – the one in MA allows suspension of gun rights for up to a year. Law enforcement agencies are not required to return seized guns after the order expires.

Listeners, these bills and laws should scare you. A lot. They empower people you don’t know to hold a hearing in your absence that may strip you of your 2nd Amendment rights forever.

This concept is a HUGE strategic win for the antigunners. Imagine your ex-partner decides to do the dirty on you. Imagine your kid’s teacher is anti-gun and is worried about little John or Jane. Imagine your neighbor gets annoyed when you run your lawnmower. The possibilities are endless. Listeners, they ARE coming for your guns.

Book – What You Don’t Know Can Kill You: How Most Self Defense Training Will Put You into Prison or the Ground

  1. Quoting right from the introduction to your book…

Stripped of their veneers, martial arts and firearms training teach you how to harm another person. But society and the legal system have some definite ‘opinions’ about you doing that. There’s enough instruction out there on the physical parts of self-defense so we’re not going to spend much time on it. (There’s a lot of instruction on “how” so we’ll spend time on “when” and “how much.”) We’re going to invest more time on the other topics that aren’t as fun and sexy. These topics deal with how society and the cops will react to your defending yourself. Honestly, has your previous training covered them? Or does the dominant attitude contend that “it will obviously be self-defense, so let’s focus on the physical part”? No matter how much force you’re being taught to use.

    2) Again from the chapter titled Courts in your book

  1. Ours is not a justice system. Ours is a legal system. It’s about what the laws say and how they are interpreted. This includes how your case applies to the law, not the other way around. Think of the law as a test that your case will be run through to see if it passes. A very brutal test in that once the machine is put into gear, it must run its course.

    3) Let’s talk a little bit about Tyler.

Rob- 5- DGUs  (at beginning) These discussions are NOT legal advice. Some of us are trainers, but this is not formal training and YOU NEED formal training. Rob- Worchester, Massachusetts

Around 8:40 PM on a Saturday night, paramedics were driving by No Name Market when they say a 26-year-old man lying on the sidewalk.  The man had been shot three times.

The man had entered the store with a large knife.  He walked up behind one of two female customers and put his arm around her neck and held the knife to her neck.  Before he demanded any money or made any threats, the store clerk pulled his gun. The hostage fell to the ground and the clerk shot the suspect three times.

The man dropped the knife and ran from the store with the clerk in pursuit who ordered to him to the ground before running back to check on customers.

The thugs injuries were not life-threatening.  The clerks gun and license to carry were confiscated while the investigation is ongoing.

The other man was charged with 3 assault related charges.

Police: Knife-Wielding Man Shot By Store Clerk While Attacking Customer

Tracy – Ackerman Mississippi

On a recent afternoon, a mother had left to go to work, taking her daughter with her, her troubled brother-in-law decided to carry through on threats made against the family.  The man was armed with a hatchet when he attempted to break into his brother’s home.

Unfortunately for him, his 16-year-old nephew was home and was armed with a .270 caliber rifle.

When the man made a sudden and aggressive move toward the young man, he fired a single shot, striking his uncle in the chest.  When police arrived, they found the man on the porch, unresponsive and later he died.

The family has videos of the uncle walking around their yard with two machetes, threatening the father and the entire family.

The boy was traumatized and has not been charged.

Paul- I want to give kudos to the 16 year old young man.. Actually 16 year old man by his actions to arm himself and stop the threat. Also bad guy brought a hatchet to a rifle fight. John, I consider you a LOT more of an expert on rifle cartridges than I am, what is the .270 performance like and what is it generally used for?

John – the muzzle energy was approximately 2700 ft pounds of energy at that range.

Gary-Oceana, West Virginia

A high school teacher would often wonder what would happen if she came face to face with an intruder.  It is a common practice to visualize your reaction to various self-defense scenarios.

On a recent Saturday, her wonderings became real.

Her husband wasn’t expected home for another hour when she heard noises in the backyard.   The family dog was also acting strangely.

She thought the sounds she was hearing was her husband coming home but when she looked out the window and spotted a man breaking into her car.  She confronted the man and called 911. The man refused to leave so she told the dispatcher that she was going to get her gun. They tried to dissuade her from doing that but she persisted.

As soon as she stepped on the porch with her gun, the intruder decided that it was probably best to not be there anymore.  When she looked in her car, she discovered that the man had dropped crystal meth in her passenger seat.

The would-be thief was still being sought.

John – Gary, Indiana

A 32-year-old man and woman were attempting to break into a home on the eastside of Gary recently.  The homeowner heard banging at his door at 1 AM. He retrieved his gun because he thought someone was trying to break in.

When the door broke open, the 29-year-old homeowner fired once.

The want-to-be home intruders fled.  Within 10 minutes of the first call of a shot fired, the police were dispatched to a local hospital due to a report of a patient with a gunshot wound.

The female intruder was arrested and an arrest warrant was issued for the male intruder.

We want to see things as black and white. Unfortunately, when it comes to allowing school staff to carry a firearm on campus, those laws come in shades of gray. Can a school board decide to have armed volunteer school staff on campus? Are the state requirements so restrictive that the school board can’t find a sufficient number of volunteers?

After the outcry the page was restored sometime on Sunday with no explanation as to why it was deleted or why they reversed themselves. Rob=IDAHO PARENTS RESPOND TO SCHOOL LOCKDOWN BY COMING TO THE SCHOOL ARMED

It was probably only a matter of time before parents, frustrated at what they see as inaction on behalf of school boards, and inept and sometimes cowardly law enforcement behaviour, would decide that they were the best people to to protect their children.

This happened in Idaho recently. A school lockdown was called on the belief that an armed student was loose in the school and when the news got out, parents began arriving at the school armed with their handguns and rifles, believing that their children were in danger. One parent bearing a drawn pistol heatedly confronted a State Trooper. The Trooper persuaded the man to remove himself from school grounds (the man later apologized).

Janitorial staff prevented other armed parents from entering the school grounds by blocking roads with school vehicles

Bannock County Sheriff Lorin Neilsen, whose men deployed to the school said that armed members of the public who respond in this way put themselves in danger of being mistaken as the active shooter and shot by officers. He also added that those parents who did “self-deploy” could have been arrested (although they were not).

In the end, the incident turned out to have involved a petty verbal dispute between teenagers and no firearms were involved.

Listeners. This is a troubling but somehow understandable development. When we lose confidence in those we appoint to protect our children we wish to act, but at the same time, doing so can confuse and escalate a situation. It seems that Sheriff Neilsen’s officers acted with great discretion and restraint  in unexpected and difficult circumstances.

John- SEVEN HUNDRED WOMEN TRAINED TO OPERATE A 9mm HANDGUN SAFELY, IN ONE DAY

Listeners, you may not have heard of “Legally Armed in Detroit”. It is a gun rights advocacy group that for the last seven years has been offering free range and firearms safety training to women in the metro-Detroit area.

The event introduces women to firearms in a safe and supportive environment. It teaches basic firearms safety, good shooting stance, elements of marksmanship, and includes live fire. This year, they trained a record seven hundred women in one day.

The program was conceived by Rick Ector, a Detroit area gun rights advocate. He recounts how he was inspired to think about how women might be made safer when he saw a TV news story about a woman who had been murdered and then her body was dumped in an open lot. He came up with the idea of offering a free shooting lesson for women. He said that it was important for women because they are “easier targets” for predators.

“The world is getting so bad I have to defend myself” said one participant. “It’s rough out there,” added another.

Training took place at the Top Gun shooting range in Taylor, Michigan. The women were brought into groups and taken through the safety briefing and other classroom elements. Then each was paired one-on-one with a firearms instructor for their range session. There, they loaded 20 rounds and fired them on standard range targets. The close supervision allowed individual feedback to be given to every woman.

There were no injuries or accidents.

Trainers were certified by NRA, USCCA, Michigan Gun Owners, Michigan Open Carry. the National African American Gun Association, and Legally Armed in Detroit. One instructor said that learning to shoot was “..a skill set that could potentially keep them and their families safe.”

The first year, 50 women came. Then 100, then more and last year 600, and now this year a new record 700 women registered to take advantage of the program, and launch themselves into the world of firearms use, and self-protection.

Listeners, this is a great example of how one person, with the motivation to serve his or her community, can make a huge difference.

Rob- I love what Rick is doing. He is bringing new women into our gun culture. He’s bringing the gun culture together to train these women.

Paul – I have the greatest respect for Rick and will be trying to get him on the show again in the near future. This is EXACTLY what we advocate for gun people to do. Bring new people to our ranks

Gary-

John – Rick also gave out 700 gun locks. When I spoke with him he was having trouble getting NSSF to send the gun locks but I’m assuming he solved that issue.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lloyd- YES, THEY *ARE* COMING FOR YOUR GUNS… PART 42.. Or is it 43… or 143… or the number of burgers sold at Micky-Dee’s..
Listeners, we have heard all sorts of weasel words and trite little homilies about how Democrats aren’t “coming for your guns” and just want “common sense” laws. This of course is despite Diane Feinstein’s famous comment about “Mr and MRs America, turn them all in”.
Well, once again in California, home of the Bullet Button, additional antigun legislation advanced. Senator Anthony Portantino shepherded a Bill through to law that raises the minimum age for purchase of any firearm to 21, and limits all firearm sales to 1 per month for any individual.
He said, “If DC won’t act, CALIFORNIA will”. He praised the Brady Campaign. The bill passed the CA Senate 23 to 10 and now heads to the CA Assembly. CA Senate Republican Jim Neilsen on the other hand said that the senate “..would be better off focusing on criminal gangs…. who he argues would be able to get their hands on guns regardless of age restrictions.
It should be noted that a recent study from the Rockerfeller Institute of Government showed that “..the average age of mass shooters is 33.4 years..”, and cite “..intense and often unbalanced media coverage..” leading to “..disproportional attitudes about the events themselves..” being held by the public
The antigunners are wily. They use the media, and selective reporting to pressure the legislators we vote into office to vote against their promises to us, and our interests.
Listeners, don’t believe when you hear that the gun controllers and gun banners aren’t winning. They are.
Rob- Mark Walters had an article where he talked about the double standard of young people who want to vote, but not to protect those they love.
Gary-
John – Anything coming out of the Rockefeller IOG is suspect. They are allied with States United for Gun Safety.
Lloyd
John – These kids are the gun control equivalent of Mao’s Red Guard.
The Defensive Gun Use segment is intended as information, NOT as training. As always the opinions of the hosts are only their own opinions and not those of any sponsors or other affiliations.
John – Memphis, Tennessee
A father and daughter were sharing a moment together with a quick stop at a local McDonalds.  As the two left, their lives changed forever.
What started with being asked for a lighter, progressed to the father being choked out from behind and hit in the face.  At the same time, the 21-year-old father was holding his 1-year-old daughter in his arm.
When the four men attacked him, he was able to “throw” her in the car and get his gun from under the seat of the car.  All this while being choked and pistol whipped.
He was able to shoot one of the attackers in each leg before being disarmed by an attacker.  The newly armed assailant pointed this gun at his head. He pulled the trigger. As Bob Mayne says, “the loudest sound is a bang when you are expecting none and a click when you are expecting a bang.”  In this case, it was a click. The gun jammed.
The assailants quickly drove off but stopped at a fire station two miles away where they were taken into custody.
Paul
Paul – Nashville, Tennessee
Three armed teens are on the run after a bump and rob attempt was interrupted.
The suspects were following a female victim when they bumped her car as she pulled into an alley near the ownhome where her son resides.  The victim continued on to the parking area behind her son’s home and began honking her horn.
Her son came out armed and one of the three thugs allegedly fired the first shot.  The son fired three times and the suspects fled the scene. No injuries were reported.
The three were also linked to other crimes, a robbery of a pedestrian and another bump-and-rob.  When the victim exited his vehicle, a gunman got out of the rear seat and yelled to “get in his car”.  The intended victim jumped back in and drove off at a high rate of speed and was pulled over by an officer where he reported the attempted robbery.
Gary – Oklahoma City , Oklahoma
What started out as a time for a meal and socializing ended with three people wounded and the gunman dead.  The unnamed shooter walked into Louie’s Bar and Grill and opened fire. While the man was busy shooting up the restaurant, two men, Juan Carlos Nazario and Bryan Whittle were retrieving their firearms from their cars.  The two were working independently.
The two confronted the shooter and immediately terminated the dangerous situation.
Both men stated that they were not trying to be heroic but rather were just doing what needed to be done to stop the threat.
All patrons injured during the shooting are in good condition and expected to survive.
The FBI reviewed its databases and found it had received tips at two different times about the shooters YouTube channel. In both cases the agency determined that the content was First Amendment protected speech.
John – Shannon Watts is criticizing this because these weren’t “average” armed citizens due to their either National Guard or LEO backgrounds.
Paul – I wonder if OK allows carry in bars? No   http://www.handgunlaw.us/states/oklahoma.pdf
Hey guys here’s an email for you since you been begging for one.
So I belong to the NRA as well as Second Amendment Foundation but keep on getting solicitations from other organizations such as GOAL, CCKBA etc limited amount of funds not really able to give something to everybody what would be the top 3 or maybe 4 organizations that you think it’s best to belong to to help  keep our gun rights
Also it’s a little too late for this year I had a voicemail that disappeared into the abyss from your podcast if you would recommend who might be good people to vote for for NRA board members when it comes around next year I catch good names from various podcast but since I usually don’t listen to them while I’m sitting at a desk with a writing stick in my hand I can’t always keep them available when it’s time to vote love for you to make some recommendations in the winter or before the voting takes place.
Thanks for all you DO,
Mel from the Midwest
Rob- Jeff Knox does a great review every year of the nra candidates. Crime Prevention Research Center,
Gary-
John – NRA, SAF, and the most active state level group in your state. It may not necessarily be the NRA affiliated group. And of course the Firearms Policy Coalition.
Dear Paul and Company,
It’s been a while since you stopped doing the news section of your podcast and I must say that I for one really miss it.  Your audience realizes that you’re not able to get breaking news to us as quickly as some other sources but that’s not why we listen to your podcast. We can get the bare-bones information from many places but we can only get your analysis of the news and how it affects other defensive gun owners from your podcast. The fact that the information may be a few days or even weeks old doesn’t lessen the value of the input given by you and your cohorts. Information does not equal knowledge. It takes time, details and a lifetime of experience for information to be transformed into knowledge. That’s the value that you and the other participants of your podcast provide. I sincerely hope that you will bring back the newscast segment soon.
Keep up the good work. And by the way, even if we don’t email you that doesn’t mean that we’re not listening!
Be safe,
Roger at Sheepdog Firearm Training LLC
Hi Everyone,
I heard you needed emails so I decided to write in. I can’t remember if you have talked about Project Appleseed before but I recently took one of their two day classes in Ohio. The weather didn’t cooperate but the shoot bosses did a good job and I learned a lot. They focus on using a sling to find your natural point of aim. We spent a lot of time standing, sitting and in the prone position. Overall it was a good experience and I managed to get my rifleman patch which I was pretty proud of. For the price (mine was $60), I don’t think you can beat the training and the history lessons were fun too. Take care and keep up the good work.
David
Rob- Congratulations on getting your patch on the first try.
Paul: Rob, do you have any new posts from your SlowFacts blog you want to mention?
Rob- I wrote about the media’s role in building mass murderers, and what we should do when they come to our schools and churches. That article is called, “Best Practice to save our students from Mass Murderers.”
You might remember that teens used to commit suicide so their name would appear in the news. These were called “Celebrity Suicides.” We learned a little, and stopped mentioning the name of these suicides. Now, we mention their name if they take ten of their fellow students with them. We need to learn a little more, and stop that. Read the articles.
My articles are up at Clash Daily, at Ammoland and at my blog, slow facts dot wordpress dot com.  John, tell us what’s new at your blog no lawyers only guns and money.
I put a post up saying we in North Carolina don’t want to be California. Anti-gun Democrats in the North Carolina General Assembly are floating a number of gun control bills that have no chance of passage due to the Republican super-majority. The one that really is ridiculous would mandate that NC adopt California’s Handgun Roster as a “safety measure”. That would mean newer Glocks and any of the other newer handguns would be banned from sale or transfer in North Carolina. Give me a break! However, there is a good pro-school safety bill, HB 1039 being introduced that would create a volunteer school guardian program including teachers and that would have an active shooter training component.
Rob- Bill Frady and I talked politics and guns on his Lock and Load Radio program. I was on Eye on the Target radio with Amanda Suffecool and Bob Cambell. I also recorded another Episode of Self-Defense Gun Stories.
John – I haven’t been deer hunting for something like 40 years. However, my wife inherited a piece of property that looks promising. I spent parts of yesterday putting out a mineral lick and setting up trail cams. I didn’t realize how much the brush had grown up since it was clear cut and replanted. I’ve also been researching brush cutting and bush hogs! Other than that, nothing gun related.
I do have a request for our listeners. The states are where the critical battles for our gun rights are taking place now. Thus, I am attempting to assemble a database of state-level gun rights groups. I know our listeners come from around the United States. If you belong to a gun rights group in your state, please send me an email at john@politicsandguns.com with the state, the name of the group, and contact information for that group.
2- News
Another deadly school shooting
John – Santa Fe, Texas was the scene of the latest massacre in one of our public schools. On Friday, May 18th a 17-year-old student stole a sawed-off shotgun and a revolver from his father and brought it to school and began to open fire at 7:40 am as the school day was beginning.  From the time the first shot was fired until the suspect was taken into custody seems to have been about 30 minutes.
10 are dead, 2 teachers and 8 students.
Rob- What do Dana Loesch, Grant Stinchfield, and David Hogg have in common? The first two are NRA commentators and the third is the spokes-child for Mom’s demand gun confiscation. All three said that the media created these mass murders at our schools. I ran the numbers. The public relations coverage that we give these murderers is worth billions of dollars. The news media creates these monsters..and our kids are paying the price.
Paul- I’ll take the low hanging fruit here
John – It is not only a media event. The reporting of all the minutiae is nothing more than a how-to guide for wannabe school killers.
Gun Quotes
Gary – Decatur, Tennessee
On Mother’s Day morning at 2:15 AM, a man broke into a couple’s home.  The intruder got a knife from the kitchen and attacked the couple. One member of the couple was able to shoot the intruder during a struggle and the thug was pronounced dead at the scene.
The two people injured in the attack were treated for non-life threatening injuries.  None of the people had been identified and no charges have been filed.
Paul –Lake Worth, Florida
A Lake Worth homeowner was awoken at 12:15 AM and spotted an intruder in the second-floor hallway of his home.  The homeowner then shot the intruder in order to defend himself, his wife and their daughter.
When deputies arrived, the homeowner was chasing the criminal behind his home.  They arrested the intruder who stated that it was all a mistake and that he had gone into the wrong house.
The man was treated for a gunshot wound to his right arm then booked into the Palm Beach County Jail.  He was out on bond from a March arrest on drug-related charges.
John – Fort Worth, Texas
Firearms people tend to look down their collective noses at the Hi-Point pistols.  When a Fort Worth man went to meet a seller of an iPhone for his daughter, he took his Hi-Point .380 with him.
While he and his family were at an Easter party, he thought he had found the right deal.  He and his wife packed up their three kids in their SUV and drove to an apartment complex where they were to meet the seller.
He told reports, “I should have gone alone.”
They arrived around 8 PM and the seller was waiting for them.
The father got out of the SUV and was immediately attacked by the seller and 3 other men.  His wife and kids could only sit and watch the beating take place. The victim was able to make his way back to the vehicle and got his “cheap little Hi-Point .380” out of the door.
He fired 5-7 shots at his attackers, wounding 2 and sending the third fleeing. His wife grabbed a screwdriver and attacked one as well.
Gary??Joelton, Tennessee
The 58-year-old gas station clerk was outside to take a break when three armed men approached him.
The clerk was another POGO practitioner.  One of the men pointed a gun at him so he shot the suspect in the stomach.  The other two ditched their friend.
According to police, the clerk then ran inside and grabbed towels and tried to help the man who had just tried to rob him.  He called 911 and then performed CPR.
The suspect was treated and discharged.  He is in police custody and charged with three felony counts.  His associates where still being searched for and may have been responsible for several recent robberies.
Paul -???Multiple locations
A recent report from the FBI detailed how during 2016 – 2017, 8 active shooter incidents were stopped by armed citizens who were not police officers.
Of the 8 incidents, in two, the citizen exchanged fire with the shooters.  This is how a properly trained citizen can be an effective deterrent to mass shootings.  In others, the citizen held the shooters at gunpoint until police arrived.
The most high profile case was the shooting at the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas.
This came on the heels of a study of mass shootings dating from 2003 to 2015 which showed that 10 percent were stopped by good guys with guns and nearly 20 percent were stopped by citizens and not the police.
In many cases, just the presentation of the gun to the shooter caused the shooter to take their own life.
https://sonsoflibertymedia.com/as-texas-shooter-killed-unarmed-citizens-fbi-admits-armed-citizens-stopped-4-recent-mass-shootings/
Fayetteville, North Carolina
When the two 10-year-old masked robbers entered the BP station shortly before 10 PM, the clerk was prepared.  The clerk had his own firearm and fired toward the robbers, striking one of them. The pair fled the scene.
A little while later, a 911 dispatcher received a call from someone who said their son had been shot.  His mother reported that he had been shot in the back and had been with his friend. When the dispatcher asked who had shot him, he says that he didn’t remember anything.
The mother and the gunshot robber were not very forthcoming with information.  The investigation revealed that the man was the suspect who had been shot by the clerk.
Both robbers have been charged with attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon and felony conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.
Someone asked on Facebook should he join the NRA or GOA. I said his state-level group because that is where the gun control action is taking place right now. As an example, the Boulder City Council passed an assault weapons ban and raised the age for purchase of long arms on Tuesday, May 15th unanimously even though Colorado has state preemption. The Mountain States Legal Foundation filed suit in Federal court a day later challenging this action as a violation of the US and Colorado constitutions on a variety of factors including violating the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms.
